Question
2
I'm satisfied with the current
situation.
Why do I need collective bargaining?
If you
agree with the following statements, you may not be ready for
collective bargaining.
1. In terms of individual faculty well-being, the University has
done a good job of taking all issues into consideration.
2. As member of the faculty, I feel very good about my potential
to influence decisions on campus because the University solicits and
respects my opinion.
3. My salary is right about where it ought to be, given my
credentials, work experience, and years of service.
4. Decisions on nontenure-track faculty salary are generally fair
across campus.
5. We have as many tenure-track/tenured faculty in my department as
we need.
6. The Academic Senate has been a reliable organ for getting
nontenure-track faculty issues into discussions at upper
administrative levels.
7. The University is facing tight economic times; therefore,
nontenure-track faculty should not expect to receive regular pay
raises or merit pay.
8. Matters of University policy and teaching load concerning
nontenure-track faculty are best left to the administration.
9. Nontenure-track faculty have played a meaningful role on all
search committees for upper level administrators.
10. I am confident that the Illinois Board of Higher Education
report accurately reflects the job satisfaction and working
conditions of nontenure-track faculty at ISU.
